EMJ Spin-Off Will Focus on Embedded Linux Distribution
Apex, NC, 5 April 2000 - WDL Systems today announces that it has established an independent company, white dwarf Inc., named for a small distribution of Linux the company developed earlier this year to run on some of the worlds smallest PCs. The spin-off will allow white dwarf Inc. to receive independent financing.
Mark Estill, EMJ Vice President, says the new company is being positioned to heighten awareness and drive revenues for white dwarf linux. "We believe that with a separate identity, white dwarf can receive the focus it deserves to rapidly move forward in the embedded Linux area. As part of EMJ, we believe it has not received fair valuation and is not fairly reflected in EMJs stock price. Because our intention is for white dwarf Inc. to be independent, EMJ will be selling part of the newly-formed company to interested investors."
The wd linux distribution is available here on our site. Or visit www.whitedwardlinux.org
ABOUT white dwarf linux
WDL Systems introduced white dwarf linux (wd linux), version 1.0, earlier this year. It is named for a White Dwarf Star, a small and extremely dense star. Like the star category, wd linux is mightily compact - for loading on the worlds smallest PCs. EMJ researchers shrunk the operating system from approximately 90 to 100 megabytes in size to less than 10 megabytes while retaining all the features embedded applications demand. A fully graphical package-based installer, which allows developers to choose the exact features they need for their applications, is included. white dwarf linux is ideal for embedded devices used in applications as diverse as security apparatuses, medical instruments, factory automation and global positioning systems.
