PC/104 Board Questions
Q: I am using a MOPSlcd6, MOPSlcd6+, MOPS686+, CoolMONSTER, or ETX (all with Intel Ethernet) with Linux. Why doesn't my Ethernet controller work?
A:
You must change the "PnP OS Installed" to "no/off" in order to use the Ethernet feature with Linux. This is set to "yes/on" by default.

Q: How can I speed up the boot time of my Kontron single board computer?
A:
Try turning quick boot on, memory check and floppy seek off. These settings should speed your boot time. If the system is slow to power up, the issue may lie with your power supply.

Q: How do I attach a standard 40 pin IDE drive to my Kontron Single Board Computer?
A:
You may use the 44-40 pin adaptor cable, 1JIDECB or if using the standard size IDE drive in conjunction with a chipdisk, you will need a chipdisk adapter (1JUMADA) and the 44pin IDE cable (1IDECAB).

Q: I just received my latest shipment of MOPS boards and the Ethernet driver isn't working. What is wrong?
A:
Nothing is wrong, there are variations on the Ethernet controllers used in the MOPS boards. Currently the 386 and 486 class boards ship with CS8900er chipsets, while the Pentium class boards ship with Intel 82559er chipsets. Check the JUMPtec website at http://www.jumptec.de for the latest drivers for your product, or with the OS provider.

Q: What is the minimum power connection on a LCD6?
A:
The minimum power connection is ground, +5 Volts, and 2 Amps.

Software Questions
Q: Which products are compatible with JUMPtec Remote Control (JRC) Software?
A:
All current Kontron MOPS PC/104 products work with JRC. The DIMM PC product line is also compatible. The SlotPC (littleMONSTER, coolMONSTER) line is not compatible. Venus, Neptune, 786LCD, GX1LCD boards are not compatible.

Q: What Operating Systems will run on my Kontron board?
A:
Any x86 Operating System should work on your Kontron product, as long as one considers memory, storage, and processor speed limitations inherent in embedded products.

Q: I cannot partition my ChipDISK with Datalight ROM-DOS. Help!
A:
The older 6.22 version of ROM DOS doesn't seem to work with the more recent ChipDISKs, instead giving a negative cylinder count when you try to use it. Make certain you are using ROM-DOS 7.1 and everything should work properly.

Q: DOS/Windows doesn't see my hard disk.
A:
When in doubt, fdisk. Fdisk will tell you if there is a fixed drive there or not, and give you partition information. 9 times out of 10, the problem lies with invalid partitions or unusable media.

Q: How do I load Windows CE onto my Kontron system?
A:
The customer must contact Kontron directly at 510-732-6900.
top

Q: Where can I find the MOPSlcd6 USB driver for DOS?
A:
There is no USB driver for DOS. DOS cannot handle most USB devices.
However, DOS can handle USB keyboards and mice. If the application requires hot-swappable keyboard and mouse capabilities, you may use USB devices rather than the AT keyboard and serial mouse. You must turn on USB Legacy support in order for this to work. USB legacy support uses IRQ 12.

Q: I need a DOS packet driver for my 82559 Ethernet Chipset.
A:
Intel does not support a packet driver for the 82559 Chipset. A third party driver is available from http://www.crynwr.com free of charge. This is unsupported.

LCD Panel Questions
Q: Is my LCD panel supported by my Kontron video card or MOPSlcd board?
A:
You can download the Supported Flat Panel List here: http://www.jumptec.de/product/data/jili/panellist.html.
top

Q: I would like to use a panel that is not on your list of supported panels.
A: We sell a prototyping cable that you may purchase. You will need to have an engineer on staff capable of designing a flat panel interface using the prototyping cable. Alternatively we can supply contact information for engineering firms.
