Cool RoadRunner II

PCI Bridge

Q: Where do I download a Windows 2000 audio driver for the Lippert Cool RoadRunner II?
A:
An audio driver is not loaded automatically during Windows 2000 setup. Take the following steps to install a driver:

First, enter CMOS setup and enable "CPU Built-In Audio." You will see some resource settings for the audio controller. Move your cursor "MPU-401 I/O" and change the setting from "330" to "Disabled." Save the CMOS settings and exit.

After logging into Windows 2000, take a look in the device manager. You will see two yellow question marks on audio devices, one for AUDIO DEVICE and the other for AUDIO CONTROLLER FOR MULTIMEDIA.

Select the AUDIO DEVICE, properties and add the driver for it. You will be asked to select a driver or to search for a driver. Click manual installation and select a driver for audio video and game devices. Here you will have to select a driver from the manufacturer CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY LTD. The driver name is "SOUNDBLASTER 16, AWE32 or compatible."

After you have installed it, it may be that you get a resource conflict. Then you will have to change the resources manual. The driver can be found now in the section AUDIO VIDEO and GAMECONTROLLER. Select it, go to properties, select ressources and change settings. Please look for the settings of the I/O ranges. There may be on address beginning with 0000-0001, this one must be changed to 0300-0301.

Q: The Windows Device Manager is showing a question mark next to a device called the PCI Bridge. How do I properly configure this device?
A:
The question mark showing next to the PCI Bridge device is normal due to the virtual system architecture in the National chipset. You may deactivate this device safely in the Device Manager.
